Key Points:
- Welcome back! We are excited to welcome the new year with everyone. We used this first community call to reintroduce Future Foundation, reflect on Season 0, and gather thoughts on Season 1.
- The main objectives for Season 0 were to build relationships with the nascent web3 x social impact community and get a pulse check on the state of the broader ecosystem.
- What went well?
- The community! We have over 300 people who joined us, and it was great to see people meet each other, and there was value in
- The vibes!
- “I have enjoyed the pace of the FF developments + facilitation - with weekly calls - not too many participants to start with - FF feels personal and friendly”
- “Met new and helpful folks for my ventures. FF felt like a social club without a need to make big contributions.”
- Formalized our hello through our mirror post
- What didn’t go so well?
- Tough for people to figure out ways to meaningfully contribute
- Vague call to adventure
- Imperfect tools (e.g., Discord)
- Limited attention, time, ways to plug in
- Looking ahead to Season 1, we’re going to focus on:
- What: Create real value to the broader web3 x social impact ecosystem
- Directly support 4 - 6 web3 x social impact organizations
- Publish research, thought leadership, and create digital public goods
- How: Make it super easy for people to figure out ways to contribute and lead different areas of Future Foundation
- Some thoughts on Season 1
- New schedule of interactions
- Community calls —> now every two weeks
- Office hours —> weekly
- Speaker series —> weekly? every two weeks?
- Kick arounds —> ad-hoc / target every two weeks
- We’re going to source speakers from within the FF community at first
- From Jeremy: Figure out economic model & NFT compatibility across social impact projects.Align economic incentives to motivate time allocation & engagement.
- Lean into the connecting the dots part of FF and create ways to convene orgs and ppl
- From Ben: Let’s think through ways to enable cross-DAO collaborations, be a model for DAO decision making and digital democracy, and be accessibility champions
- Make it easy for people to add value by providing context and identifying areas for people to add value. Dave will set up a Notion page with a task board and will also set up discord roles.
- Going forward, the helping wall will exist outside of Figma, but we’ll use the Figma board to surface asks and offers for help.
